I had a major bird watching weekend! On Saturday I went on the bird watching tour in Prospect Park and Sunday my husband and I went to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. It's warbler migration time and I saw several kinds in both parks. I am just a beginner which is why it's good to go with the tour, to hear from the experts. We had unseasonably warm weather around here and everyone seemed to be out enjoying nature. Too bad I got sun burned both days!

Yesterday I installed two picture shelves above our new sofa! I am excited to be able to change the display whenever. It also gives me motivation to make some new pieces so that I can fill some antique frames I have been saving. The only "catch" (sorry for the bad pun!) is that the particular fabric we chose, is VERY easily snagged by our cat. Because she loves new things, she sees this sofa as her personal playgound! We ordered the linen slipcover but it's not supposed to be delivered until well into May. So even though we use softpaws she is still able to snag the weave with her back paws and even her front. What a pain! Does anyone have any recommendations?

We also had our smaller sofa reupholstered lately, I'll post photos of that soon! It's so nice to actually have space and do some furniture arranging. Next I'm making curtains for the living room.

I hope everyone had a happy Easter and Passover!

We celebrated at our house even though we don't have enough seating yet in our apartment. We've ordered a new sofa and the old sofa is being reupholstered. I'll post photos of our living room once it's all set. This week I'm working on a project I can't post on here yet so bear with me. I'm still getting emails from people wanting to order dolls. Sorry for the delay, I haven't forgotten and hope to catch up after my upcoming deadline!

The new apartment is coming along nicely. Because it's so much bigger than our old place we actually have to buy some new furniture which is fun. I put together swatches of linen that I have chosen. I get my linen at Gray Line, which is a great resource if you are in NYC! Everytime time I go there I can't resist more and more yardage. Luckily our new apartment needs lots of small projects, such as curtains. I made cafe curtains for two of the rooms to provide some privacy but still let in a lot of light. Also, because the windows are the same size throughout so I can switch them around if I change my mind.

As I am getting my craft room settled, I decided to make a cover for my ironing board. Because I have an extra wide board it's hard to find nice looking covers. I made this of striped linen edged with a bias tape I already had. I used my last cover as a template and also used its drawstring mechanism. I took more pictures of the process but then lost them as I was loading them onto the computer. I've been having computer problems lately. Yesterday I accidently deleted my email inbox!
